"The Battle in Bolton"
The Major Rookie Tincaps travelled to Bolton this past weekend for the Bolton Braves Rookie Tournament.

The Major Rookie Tincaps had a truly memorable weekend in Bolton on July 20th and 21st.

Game one was slated for 8pm on Friday, against the Aurora Jays, under the lights!  The Tincaps got out to a 7-0 lead, but the bats went silent and The Tincaps lost 22-11.

Game two was an afternoon affair against the Burlington Bulls. The boys played "Tincap Baseball" and took care of business, defeating the Bulls 15-5.

Game three was where all the excitement was.  It was another 8pm game under the lights, this time against The Newmarket Hawks.  The boys won the toss and home field, not knowing how important that coin toss would be.  The teams were evenly matched and it showed in the box score.  2-2 after the first inning, 3-3 after the second inning.  The third, fourth and fifth innings saw the Tincaps outscore the Hawks 5-1, putting the score at 8-4.  There was no quit in the Hawks that night. They put up 2 runs in the top of the six to make the score 8-6 going in to the seventh inning.  The Tincaps were 3 outs away from victory and a shot at the semi-finals.

The seventh inning was something of legend.  The Newmarket Hawks put 7 runs across the plate and took a commanding 13-8 lead going in to the bottom of the inning.  Now the Hawks were 3 outs away from a shot at the semi-finals.  However, like the Hawks, there was no quit in the Tincaps that night.  Charlie W. started the inning off but grounded to short.  1 out.  Charlie R stepped up and laced a single to left field.  Charlie C also singled moving Charlie R. to second.  Jonah singled to right field scoring Charlie R. and moving Charlie C. to 3rd.  13- 9 Hawks.  Jake stepped in and hit an 0-2 pitch but popped out to the pitcher.  2 outs.  Eli came to bat and hit a single scoring Charlie C. and moving Jonah to second. 13-10 Hawks.  Next up was Mason, who promptly smashes a double scoring Jonah and moving Eli to third. 13-11 Hawks.  Bryson was now up with 2 on and 2 out.  He smashes a double to center scoring both Eli and Mason.  Tie game. 13- 13.  Dylan was our next batter, and he smashed a single scoring Bryson in a dramatic come from behind walk off win!  14-13 Tincaps!

They did it!  The Tincaps scored 6 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring 5 runs on 4 consecutive two out hits!  The epic comeback was complete!

The Major Rookie Tincaps would move on to the semi-finals and a rematch with the Aurora Jays, but mother nature had other plans.  Sunday was a rain out and the tournament would not be able to continue.

The boys showed true grit and determination that night in their epic come from behind walk off win.  They will forever share a bond in what will be forever known as "The Battle in Bolton".
