OOBA would like to congartulate John Parent on his Community award this week. John was recognized by Peggy Sattler for his work in the community with Oakridge & Tincaps baseball. John has been a long time supporter on Youth baseball in Oakridge as a coach, convenor, mentor, umpire, etc! John wears many hats and we are lucky to have him on the board.
Thanks John for all you do!
Below is a picture of John accepting the award from Peggy Settler and I've also included some of John's words of gratitude that he gave when presented the award.
"I would like to thank Chris Devlin the Director of Oakridge Baseball and the Tincaps baseball organization which runs in conjunction with Byron baseball. He and the other volunteers involved in Oakridge baseball have been a huge support in my role as 9U House League Convener.
I also want to thank the coaches of 9U HL baseball who are introducing children to the game which is no small feat considering all the rules and intricacies of the game.
The parents play a big role also and getting their children to the practices and games considering the varying family dynamics which can be challenging.
I would also thank Peggy for acknowledging the volunteers in the community. We do not volunteer for the recognition but it is appreciated when your efforts are noticed.
As a former Catholic elementary school teacher and principal I love seeing kids learn and have fun. Convening the 9U HL baseball league is a great way to continue seeing kids learn and have fun"
