The Dave Keays Award
This award is presented to recognize London West Tincap coaches and/ or volunteers that exhibit significant service to minor baseball over time and make a difference in the lives and success of young ball players.
Dave Keays joined the OOBA board in the 90's and served the community for over 25 years on the OOBA & LW Tincaps executive. Dave was still active in his roll as Equipment Director right up to his passing in 2023. Over the years Dave Keays took on many rolls, Coach, Photographer, Picture Convenor, Diamond groomer, BBQ guy and his most passionate roll of Equipment Director which he handled for over 20 years. Dave was a well known friendly face in the community and across LDBA as his van was a traveling equipment room with balls, scorebooks, bats and catchers gear always at the ready for a team in need! Dave loved being part of the board and the Oakridge community and wanted kids to have the best experience possible.
Winners of this award should be very proud as it's an honour to be mentioned in the same breath as our friend and champion of youth baseball in London Dave "Big Wave" Keays!
