The Larry Fisher Award
This award is presented to recognize coaches and/ or volunteers that exhibit significant service to minor baseball over time and make a difference in the lives and success of young ball players.
Larry Fisher was all that.
He coached boy’s baseball during the eighties. He coached girl’s fastball in the nineties. His successes were many with league championships, tournament wins, a provincial silver medal and a gold medal.
He was also Treasurer for the Oakridge Optimists Baseball committee for many of those years.
In 1997 Larry was diagnosed with colon cancer. He continued to coach, even while fighting this disease, and chemotherapy.
He had to quit in 1999 and succumbed to cancer in early 200
It took less than a year to create this award for people who don’t want recognition but have earned it. Be proud to receive it!
