Player of the Week
Each week, The London West Tincaps Major Rookie team will select an MLB player of the week.  This may be a current player on a hot streak, a former baseball great or someone we want to recognize and learn about.

Our first player of the week is the latest member of the 3,000 hit club, Albert Pujols.

On May 04, 2018, the Dominican Republic born Albert Pujols hit his 3,000th hit, becoming the 32nd member of the 3,000 hit club and only the 4th player ever to hit 600 home runs and 3,000 hits, joining Hank Aaron, Willie Mays and Alex Rodriguez.  He is the only player in major league baseball history to hit 600HR, 3,000 hits and win multiple World Series Championships. As of May 4th, 2018, in his career with the St. Louis Cardinals (2001-2011) and the Los Angeles Angels (2012-present) he has a .304 batting average, 3,001 hits, 620 home runs and 1,937 runs batted in.  He is also a 10x All-Star, 2x World Series Champion, 3x NL MVP, NLCS MVP, NL Batting Champion, NL RBI Leader, 6x Silver Slugger, 2x Gold Glove winner, 2x Hank Aaron award winner and he was the NL rookie of the year in 2001.

Not only is Albert Pujols one of the all time great hitters in Major League Baseball history, he is a great teammate and a tremendous person off the filed.  In 2005, Albert and his wife Deidre launched the Pujols Family Foundation.  They work to promote awareness of Down Syndrome,  aids the poor in the Dominican Republic, and helps support people with disabilities and or life threatening illness.

Congratulations Albert Pujols on 3,000 hits and an outstanding Major League career!
