Max Scherzer was born July 27, 1984 in Chesterfield Missouri.  The right throwing Scherzer was orignally drafted in 2003 by the St. Louis Cardinals, but was not signed and instead attended the University of Missouri.  In  2006 he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks.  He made his MLB debut on April 29, 2008.

Scherzer has played for the Diamonbacks, Detroit Tigers and the Washington Nationals.  He has amassed a record of 151-77 with an ERA of 3.24 with 2,291 strikeouts.  He is a 5x All-Star, 3x Cy Young Award Winner, 3x Wins leader, 2x NL Strikeout Leader and has thrown 2 No-hitters.  He also co-holds the record for most strikeouts in a nine inning game with 20.

With a low three-quarters delivery Scherzer throws five pitches: a four-seam fastball with good movement averaging 95–96 mph, a slider at 85–86 mph, a changeup at 83–84 mph, a cutter at 89–90 mph and a curveball at 78–79 mph. He primarly uses a fastball-slider combination against right-handed hitters and a fastball-changeup-cutter combination against left-handed hitters.

Scherzer also has a condition called heterochromia iridum, where his right eye is blue and his left eye is brown.

Sherzer is a perennial leader in Wins and strikeouts and is always in the conversation for the Cy Young award.
